Despite a few initial mishaps, the Quu have mastered the control of fire. They use it to cook their food, and to light their villages at night.
The Quu have learned how to catch water-dwelling creatures such as the gue, which is now an important part of the Quu diet.
In 2943, many of the warring Quu tribes were united under a single banner by an individual known as Fes Qeu the Magnificent. The resulting empire has its capital at Feh and rules over approximately 35% of the entire Quu population. Unusually for the Quu, it is governed by a hereditary monarch.

Some of the Quu have begun to experiment with alchemy, systematically searching for new ways of combining and manipulating ingredients to yield useful chemicals, compounds, and medicines.

Electric lights are widespread, electric motors are used to drive factories, and the growing need for electric power has led to the construction of power plants near every major center of Quu population.
Through systematic observation and categorization of the various living things on Geu, the Quu have begun to develop a more sophisticated understanding of biology. Some theorists have even put forth the idea that dramatically different-looking organisms, such as the qedusqequd and the gue, may in fact be descended from a single common ancestor.

The Quu have begun harnessing the power of electricity to send messages across very great distances with unprecedented speed. Due to the overhead of encoding and decoding messages, long-distance communication remains far from instantaneous, but it is now possible for individuals on opposite sides of Geu to exchange several messages over the course of a single day.
The Quu have discovered that electromagnetic waves may be used to transmit information, enabling the development and widespread deployment of media for audiovisual broadcasting.

The Quu have begun to understand quantum physics.
In 3411, a single nuclear weapon was deployed in an attack on a small Quu city. The incident did not escalate into a full-scale nuclear war, but the city was almost completely obliterated, resulting in the deaths of some 57,000 Quu.
The Quu have begun to experiment with the use of "intelligent materials", in the form of swarms of programmable nanobots.
In 3427, following decades of negotiation, the various sovereign Quu nations came to an agreement concerning the establishment of a unified planet-wide government for all of the Quu.

So, from what I've been able to discover, the ways the aliens can die are overfishing, agricultural over-reliance, animal extinction, food plague, volcano, gamma rays, stray comet, planatary collision, metal shortage, wildfire, cramped conditions plague, engineered plague, nuclear war, exponential nanites, and A.I.revolt
This is a great game, but the GUI design could be problematic after playing for a minute – the list would be sooo long that you’ll have to scroll back and forth repeatedly. Therefore I wrote this userscript to fix it. It could show the event list in the reversed order (newest on top) and make extinct cultures disappear after fading out (30s). It also supports proper scrolling so that the list won’t go on forever to the other end of the earth :)) Install with Tampermonkey or Greasemonkey.

The Doexvex have learned how to catch water-dwelling creatures such as the deoxvoc, which is now an important part of the Doexvex diet.

so. ive been playing this game futilely for years now. really enjoying it, though. learning what i think are lessons about perseverance and loneliness, connection and space. and i get on here to show my friends about how hard it is to get very far in this game. we were having a discussions about the fermi paradox, and i wanted to show off one of the many ways a civilization can die abruptly.
it was the whole point of me opening the game today.

The Slaay have begun to make use of more sophisticated construction techniques, relying on sturdy structural elements such as arches and buttresses to support larger and larger buildings.
The Slaay have developed a simple printing press, and mass-produced versions of important texts have begun to circulate widely throughout the world. Political pamphlets are especially popular.
In 4184, the Slaay population reached 25 million individuals. Many of these live within permanent cities, the largest of which is known as Satbalt Caycley and has a population of 15,000.
Following a long series of failed attempts to attack the city, Satbalt Caycley has become renowned among the Slaay as an impenetrable fortress. The image of its distinctive towers has been widely adopted in Slaay art as a symbol of strength.
The Slaay have learned how to build ships and sail them across the oceans of Satbaly Seysley to explore and trade over increasingly greater distances.
In their efforts to understand the motion of planets in the sky, free-falling bodies, and projectiles, the Slaay have developed a new branch of mathematics which is immediately recognizable as calculus.
The Slaay have begun to construct wind and water mills, which redirect the forces of the natural world to perform repetitive mechanical tasks such as grinding grain and pumping water.
In 4356, many of the warring Slaay city-states were united under a single banner by an individual known as Baybely. The resulting empire has its capital at Satbalt Caycley and rules over approximately 12% of the entire Slaay population. Like many other Slaay states, it is governed by a hereditary monarch.
Some of the Slaay have begun to experiment with alchemy, systematically searching for new ways of combining and manipulating ingredients to yield useful chemicals, compounds, and medicines.
The Slaay have successfully tamed electricity, and are now beginning to deploy it throughout society. Electric lights are widespread, electric motors are used to drive factories, and the growing need for electric power has led to the construction of power plants near every major center of Slaay population.
Through systematic observation and categorization of the various living things on Satbaly Seysley, the Slaay have begun to develop a more sophisticated understanding of biology. Some theorists have even put forth the idea that dramatically different-looking organisms, such as the casaly and the sasely, may in fact share a single common ancestor.
The Slaay have discovered a way to manufacture gunpowder, which they primarily use for explosive mining.

With the development of the transistor, the Slaay have begun to construct more sophisticated electronic circuits.
The Slaay have developed flying machines which can carry them into the skies above Satbaly Seysley.
The Slaay have begun harnessing the power of electricity to send messages across very great distances with unprecedented speed. Due to the overhead of encoding and decoding messages, long-distance communication remains far from instantaneous, but it is now possible for individuals on opposite sides of Satbaly Seysley to exchange several messages over the course of a single day.
The Slaay have discovered that electromagnetic waves may be used to transmit information, enabling the development and widespread deployment of media for audiovisual broadcasting.

The Slaay have begun to connect their computers into a single vast network, enabling communication and collaboration on a truly global scale.
The Slaay have developed an accurate model of the internal structure of the atom, which has also enabled them to understand the phenomenon of radioactivity.

The Slaay have begun to understand quantum physics.
The Slaay have begun to experiment with the use of "intelligent materials", in the form of swarms of programmable nanobots.
The Slaay have begun to establish permanent colonies on worlds other than Satbaly Seysley. Although still largely unable to travel outside of the Caysals system, the distribution of Slaay civilization across multiple worlds greatly reduces the risk that they will collapse due to any crisis of merely planetary scale.
In 4641, an early warning system employed by one of the major Slaay superpowers detected an incoming nuclear attack. Whether the alert was a false alarm remains unclear, but the resulting nuclear counterattack and ensuing full-scale nuclear war has plunged Satbaly Seysley into a state of nuclear winter from which it is unlikely that Slaay civilization will ever recover.
Close, but no cigar

so. ive been playing this game futilely for years now. really enjoying it, though. learning what i think are lessons about perseverance and loneliness, connection and space. and i get on here to show my friends about how hard it is to get very far in this game. we were having a discussions about the fermi paradox, and i wanted to show off one of the many ways a civilization can die abruptly.
it was the whole point of me opening the game today.
so.
of course today i won.
I have so many mixed emotions right now.
anyway 10/10 game.
